The Old Port of Cannes will, for the sixth year running, welcome the largest open-air filming studio. Preparations will begin on 16 May with the installation of technical equipment.
The Mayor of Cannes and TF1 Production have renewed their partnership for the filming of this latest series of the programme ‘Ninja Warrior’, in which participants overcome a succession of obstacles, hosted by Christophe Beaugrand, Denis Brogniart and Iris Mittenaere. As in previous years, the event will be held on the Pantiero Esplanade from 27 May to 2 June. The public will be able to attend the filming of the programme – strictly adhering to the health guidelines – to discover the candidates ready to give their best.
The 2020 edition was a great success
The filming of the programme took place from 5 to 25 September with 180 technicians and 200 candidates present, and resulted in 2,500 overnight stays for the hotel industry in Cannes. Hosting the event at the port demonstrates the competence of the Cannes teams in organising large spectacles. Encompassing the Old Port of Cannes, Le Suquet, and the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès at the same time, this space becomes something of a real open-air studio. It also offers adequate logistical support for this large-scale filming event.
Economic benefits for Cannes
The programme, which attracts several million viewers, helps to energise the city, bring about direct benefits for the local economy, and is a chance to boost the recovery of the events sector, which is increasingly suffering from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
